Bowling Green Contracts Federal Engineering for Consulting Services (6/26/12)
The city of Bowling Green, Ky., awarded Federal Engineering (FE) a contract to provide public-safety and wireless communications consulting services.

FE will analyze the city’s current systems, identify the strengths and weaknesses of the hardware/software, assess the overall performance and determine expandability. The consultant will then make recommendations on upgrade/replacement strategies, provide cost estimates and generate detailed descriptions of functional requirements.

The area operates a Motorola SmartNet 800 MHz trunked system from a single tower site. The system has more than 1,200 subscribers and about 20 agencies use the system on a daily basis. The 15-year-old network has no redundancy, and parts are no longer manufactured, FE officials said.
